Ending Violence Against Women Migrant Workers

CARAM Cambodia recognises the significant burden carried and challenges faced by women migrant workers. As a result, CARAM Cambodia is part of a regional programfunded by UN Trust Fund and managed by CARAM Asia to provide legal and socialsupport for women migrant workers.

CARAM Cambodia’s contribution to the program seeks to raise awareness of migration challenges and particularly violence against women through providing orientation for prospective migrant workers and training and awareness-raising with other stakeholders such as local authorities.

The program provides social and legal support for cases of female migrant workers who have suffered abuse during the migration process, providing referral to health care,counselling and psychosocial support services.  Cases are documented and contribute to a wider monitoring system for migrant worker abuse.

In 2014, CARAM Cambodia intends to;

  • Provide legal and psychosocial support to womensuffering violence during migration
  • Strengthen networks of health care providers formigrant workers
  • Conduct a national capacity building workshop for CBOsand Women Migrant Workers
  • Broadcast 4 talk shows on violence experienced bywomen
  • Provide pre-departure training and orientation to migrantworkers
