Counter Human Trafficking in Labor Migration (CHTLM)

CARAM Cambodia acknowledges that many migrant workers are vulnerable to being trafficked or abused. As part of CARAM Cambodia’s efforts to prevent trafficking and reduce Human Right’s abuse against migrant workers, we have partnered with One Day’s Wages (ODW) to implement the “Counter Human Trafficking in Labor Migration” program focused in Koh Kong province, Cambodia.

Working with government ministries and the Women’s Media Centre, CARAM Cambodia will promote and protect the rights of migrant workers, their families and communities through awareness raising about safe migration, building capacity in counter-trafficking among duty bearers, advocacy on migrant needs and case handling.

In 2014, CARAM Cambodia intends to;

  • Develop IEC materials on safe migration
  • Document, monitor and handle cases of trafficking and Human Right’s abuse
  • Conduct a fact finding/monitoring mission to Malaysia
  • Conduct national radio shows and public forums on safe migration
  • Maintain a safe migration hotline
  • Build capacity with the National Council for Youth to establish focal points in Koh Kong
